Welcome to church this new Lord’s Day! When John the Apostle was “in the Spirit” on a certain Lord’s Day on the Island of Patmos, God Triune mightily blessed him with the revelation of the book of Revelation, the last book of the Bible! While no new revelation is given God’s people today, there is endless gospel riches for all who have eyes to see and ears to hear, and minds and hearts to receive from out of the boundless treasure of God’s inspired infallible inerrant word as given us in the 66 books of the Holy Bible.  Let us pray that today again we may know God speaking to us from out of and on the basis of His precious Word!  May God bless preachers and missionaries everywhere and elders and seminary students too, leading Christian worship services today and making known the only truly good news of the gospel in all generations!

Quotes to reflect on:

“There are many natural traits in our character that will hinder the work of the gospel unless Christ brings them into line and converts them for good. We must never make excuses for ourselves and claim: ‘That’s just how I am and people will have to get used to it.’ They do not have to get used to it—we have to change [and pray and work for God’s sanctifying grace removing all irritants and hindrances to God’s glory from our lives].” Brian H. Edwards

“Let me never forget that the heinousness of sin lies not so much in the nature of the sin committed, as in the greatness of the Person sinned against…”  From a prayer in book, The Valley of Vision.

“If the world is to be converted, and the Church made glorious, within any short period, there must be a great regard for piety [or godliness of heart and life] in those who are now Christians. Much depends on having a high standard of personal holiness. Be persuaded that there are heights of grace attainable even on earth, which have not been reached by you, or by the majority of believers. Direct your prayers and efforts to the acquisition of every Christian virtue [as set forth also by the Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:8].” J. W. Alexander

“No trial is so hard to bear as a sense of sin. If thou shouldst give me choice to live in pleasure and keep my sins, or to have them burnt away with trial, give me sanctified affliction.” –From a prayer in book, The Valley of Vision

“Creation is the Springboard or Icebreaker into people’s minds. A simple Question, ‘Do you know that One Cell in your body is more complex then the City of New York?…and you have Billions of different Cells in your Body! How did that Evolve?’ will stop people in their tracks. The Apostle Paul used the same technique in Athens when talking to the Greeks, ‘God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;…….Acts 17:22-31 KJV. Put Stones into people’s shoes.” Ian H.
