Welcome to church this new Lord’s Day.  We pray God Triune’s blessing from Father, Son, and Holy Spirit under the ministry of the gospel word this day.  We are glad for all who may be here knowing it is so great privilege to come to God’s House to worship Him.  “Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house: they will be still praising Thee. Selah. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.” Psalm 84:4&5.

Quotations worthy to ponder:

“The Christian life is a gift from beginning to end….Every morning, the Christian should be like a joyous child waking to balloons and presents.

For another day, the Lord has renewed His mercies (Lam. 3:23) and surrounded us with a smorgasbord of gifts and graces.” N.W. Bingham

I am more afraid of my own heart than of the pope and all his cardinals. I have within me the great pope, Self.” Martin Luther

Those wise words of Barth’s mother quoted above to her wayward son should be a salutary word of caution to those of us who seek to do theology: “What is the most brilliant theology good for, if it is to be shipwrecked in one’s own house?” C. Tietz,

“All I want in life is such circumstances as may best enable me to serve Thee in the world….O that I could be a flame of fire in Thy service always burning out in one continual blaze….Fit me to exult in distresses of every kind if they but promote the advancement of Thy kingdom.” From the book of prayers entitled, The Valley of Vision.

“Think often upon heaven. Let hope impact you. The mind that contemplates little the hope of heaven will be shaped little by it. Christian, reason with yourself and convince your soul, heart, and mind more fully that heaven is the only treasure and happiness. The more we believe this truth, the less the fleeting things of this world occupy our thoughts. The more we believe this truth, the more it shapes our affections, pursuits, love, and faith.” Rev. J. Helopoulos

“While all [God’s] works His praise proclaim,

And men and angels bless His Name,

Oh, let my heart, my life, my tongue

Attend, and join the blissful song.”            A. Steele, 1716-1778
