Sunday, the day we gather for Christian worship. This is the day the LORD has made. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endures to all generations.” Psalm 100:4-5.

Something to reflect on:

“To walk into the unknown with a God of unqualified power and unfailing goodness is safer than a known way.” D.A. Carson

“What is the point of my life? Do I really have a purpose? When we lose our sense of purpose, we tend to feel hopeless. Most of us have probably experienced this feeling at one level or another. It’s hard to move forward when nothing matters…..We live in a world where everyone seems to need a bigger purpose than pure survival. Why is this? Because it is built into us. We are not purely physical products of blind chance. We are created and designed by God for a spiritual purpose and will not thrive until we accept that and work within it….The problem is that our instinct is to look for purpose in all the wrong places. That’s why we ‘still haven’t found what we’re looking for’ (U2) and ‘can’t get no satisfaction’ (The Rolling Stones). Just like a plane was designed to fly, so people were designed to give glory to God through a relationship with Him and will ‘crash’ when working against that.  This has always been the Christian belief. For example, in the early fifth century, the Bishop Augustine prayed, ‘You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it finds its rest in You.’… What is the point of my life? It is to do what I was made to do and, even more, to love the One I was made to love.” Rev. Tim Schouten (minister of Canadian Reformed Church in Prince George, and copied from Clarion as taken from a series of articles in the Prince George Citizen paper on Understanding Christianity.

Something to Realize and Treasure in Christ Jesus

based on Psalm 119:90a

“In my moments of Fear
Through Every Pain Every Tear
There’s A God Who’s Been Faithful To Me
When My Strength Was All Gone
When My Heart Had No Song
Still In Love He’s Proved Faithful To Me
Every Word He’s Promised Is True
What I Thought Was Impossible I See My God Do

He’s Been Faithful, Faithful To Me
Looking Back, His Love And Mercy I See
Though In My Heart I Have Questioned
even Failed To Believe He’s Been Faithful, Faithful To Me

When My Heart Looked Away The Many Times I Could Not Pray
Still My God- He Was Faithful To Me The Days I Spent So Selfishly
Reaching Out For What Pleased Me even Then God Was Faithful To Me
Every Time I Come Back To Him He Is Waiting with Open Arms
And I See Once Again

He’s Been Faithful, Faithful To Me
Looking Back, His Love And Mercy I See
Though In My Heart I Have Questioned
even Failed To Believe He’s Been Faithful, Faithful To Me.”

Psalm 119:90a–”Your faithfulness is unto all generations….”  C. Cymbala
