New Year’s Day, January 1, 2019

Welcome to our New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day worship services as we leave the year 2018 behind us and enter the new year, 2019. Consider these quotes from the summary notes of the RHSB both on Psalm 103 and Psalm 90. Writing on Psalm 103 how true the comment made, “We are prone to forget the good things [the LORD] has lavished upon us and therefore we need to reflect and recall the wonderful blessings He has given. We need to engage in holy argument with ourselves to stir up our hearts to praise the Lord.”  Then on Psalm 90, ponder the following statements made:  “Though we would rather not think about it, we gain much wisdom by meditating on the brevity of life, the certainty of death, and the eternity of the God who rules both life and death. …The reality of death also moves us to find a dwelling place in God that will outlast this life. This world loses its charm when we see it as a temporary home, but God is eternal. This is the great wisdom given to us by the gospel, to trust in the Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life (II Timothy 3:15). Pray that God would have mercy upon you for your sins, give you eternal joy and satisfaction in His love, and work in you so that your works will have lasting value.”
